OMU Search and Rescue Team supports flood response efforts in Havza

Following the overflow and flood disaster that occurred in the Havza district of Samsun, the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Search and Rescue Team and the University’s Disaster Volunteer students took part in the field to support the efforts carried out in the affected areas.

In the work carried out in coordination with the Samsun Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate, the teams participated in damage assessment activities and supported the delivery of aid to citizens affected by the flood.

OMU teams, who arrived in the region after the disaster, carried out inspections at the points where they were needed and took an active role in efforts aimed at ensuring citizens’ safety and meeting their basic needs.

Rector Aydın shares “get well soon” message

Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın also shared a message on her social media account, conveying her get well soon wishes to citizens affected by the flood disaster.

In her message, Rector Aydın said, “I extend my get well soon wishes to our staff, students, and all citizens affected by the flood disaster that occurred in our Havza district. I wish ease to our teams working in the field and hope that a similar disaster will not happen again.”

The coordinated work of OMU’s search and rescue personnel and disaster volunteer students in the field continues to contribute to post-disaster response and recovery efforts.
