A project led by Dr. Melek Yüce of Ondokuz Mayıs University’s (OMU) Vocational School of Health Services has been selected for support by the Turkish Society of Hematology.

The project, titled “Investigation of Novel JAK–STAT Inhibitors as a Potential Therapeutic Approach in Leukaemia,” focuses on next-generation targeted drug strategies for the treatment of leukaemia.

The research team includes Dr. Esra Albayrak from the Vocational School of Health Services, together with Prof. Dr. Engin Kelkitli, Dr. Furkan Erdoğan, and Prof. Dr. Özlem Terzi from OMU’s Faculty of Medicine.

The project will investigate in detail the therapeutic potential of novel small molecules targeting the JAK–STAT signalling pathways, which play a critical role in the molecular pathogenesis of leukaemia. The study aims to contribute to the development of more effective and precisely targeted treatment approaches.

Having successfully completed the scientific evaluation process conducted by the Turkish Society of Hematology, the project reflects the research team’s expertise in haematology and translational research. The findings are expected to provide a foundation for innovative treatment strategies and contribute to their future clinical application.
