OMU Academics Develop Patented Aspiration System for Endoscopic Surgery

An invention developed by academics from the Faculties of Medicine and Engineering at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has been granted a patent by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.

Following a process coordinated by the OMU Technology Transfer Office, a patent registration certificate was issued for the invention titled “An Apparatus for Endoscopic Surgery and an Aspiration System Incorporating the Apparatus,” developed by Prof. Dr. Özgür Kemal and Dr. Onur Yontar.

The system is designed to support more effective and safer interventions in endoscopic surgery. The patented invention is expected to provide practical advantages in aspiration procedures and improve operational control during surgical interventions.

Through the activities of the OMU Technology Transfer Office, efforts continue to protect the intellectual property rights arising from scientific research conducted at the University and to secure legal protection for innovative inventions.

The patent reflects the researchers’ contribution to the development of healthcare technologies and demonstrates the potential of interdisciplinary collaboration between medicine and engineering to generate practical solutions.
