On the Road to become an Unimpeded University, OMU Received 14th Orange Flag

At the ceremony held in the Senate Hall, Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal presented certificates to the Cafeteria Building of the Health, Culture and Sports Department of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), which was entitled to receive the orange flag by meeting the necessary criteria in the category of accessibility in space of the 2021 Unimpeded University Awards, and to the 5 units selected as orange flag candidates.

This year, OMU Cafeteria Building received the orange flag given to those who succeed in the category of accessibility at the Unimpeded University Awards given by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) in order to ensure the full, effective and equal participation of disabled individuals in education. Bafra Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Arts and Sciences Blocks A-B-C-D, Faculty of Architecture, Engineering Faculty Block D and Vocational School of Health Services were also entitled to be orange flag candidates.

While Güngör Kural, Head of Health, Culture and Sports Department, received the orange flag certificate on behalf of the orange flag holder OMU Cafeteria, the orange flag candidate certificates were presented to Dean Prof. Dr. Ahmet Mutlu, on behalf of Bafra Faculty of Business Administration; Dean Prof. Dr. Emin Kasap, on behalf of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences; to Dean Prof. Dr. Hakan Sağlam on behalf of the Faculty of Architecture; to Dean Prof. Dr. Yıldıray Topçu on behalf of the Faculty of Engineering; and Director Dr. Faruk Tan on behalf of the Vocational School of Health Services.

With the flag awarded to the Cafeteria Building of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, OMU has increased the number of orange flags to 14.

The orange flag is awarded to universities that show a certain level of effort in terms of compliance with science, health and environmental conditions, taking into account the laws, by-laws, zoning plans, regulation provisions, national and international standards regarding the regulation of open, semi-open and closed spaces for disabled individuals.
