As part of Ondokuz Mayıs University’s (OMU) community engagement activities, the garden walls of the OMU Daycare Center were revitalized with the contributions of students from the French Preparatory Class.

The activity was carried out under the guidance of French Preparatory Class Coordinator Dr. Esra Atmaca. Through their colorful and creative artwork, the students transformed the school garden into a more vibrant and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Students enrolled in the 2025–2026 French Preparatory Class voluntarily participated in the project. In addition to depicting popular cartoon characters from both Turkish and French culture, they painted a variety of cheerful figures designed to capture children’s interest and bring joy to their daily lives. The colorful murals not only gave the daycare center a warmer and more lively atmosphere but also provided students with an opportunity to take their language-learning experience beyond the classroom and apply their creativity and artistic skills in a project that serves the community.

The initiative also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By encouraging students to actively engage in hands-on learning experiences, the project contributes to the goal of Quality Education, while also supporting the objective of Sustainable Cities and Communities by creating a more attractive, safe, and stimulating environment for children.

The event, made possible with the valuable support of OMU’s Department of Health, Culture and Sports (SKS), concluded with strong interest from parents, children, and volunteer participants.
