Mountain biking and trail running challenge energizes OMU campus in Samsun

As part of the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day events, the mountain biking and running “Cross Duathlon” competition, organized under the coordination of the Samsun Governorship and hosted by Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), has concluded.

Held on the Kurupelit Campus, the event was organized in different categories in cooperation with the Samsun Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and the Turkish Triathlon Federation. Athletes participating in the competition, which combined mountain biking and trail running, demonstrated great effort throughout the races. The event brought together participants from different age groups, especially young athletes, who competed intensely on the challenging course. Held in close contact with nature, the races lasted approximately two hours.

Samsun Provincial Triathlon Representative Kaan Aydıngül stated in his remarks, “This is a ‘Cross Duathlon’ race, which is a branch within triathlon. As the Samsun Provincial Triathlon Representation, we are organizing such an event in the province for the first time. We are very happy to hold this event here. The OMU Rectorate, our governorship, and our directorate of youth and sports provided great support.”

Awards were presented to the athletes who ranked in the competition at the end of the program, and the event concluded with commemorative photographs.
