OMU Joins Ministry of National Education Initiative to Reduce Disaster Risks in Educational Buildings

Under a cooperation protocol involving 15 universities, OMU will contribute academic and technical expertise to structural risk assessment and R&D aimed at improving the disaster resilience of educational facilities.

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has joined a cooperation protocol signed by the Ministry of National Education and 15 universities to reduce structural disaster risks in educational buildings and advance related research and development activities.

OMU was represented at the signing ceremony, held at the Ministry of National Education, by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Yılmaz, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and project lead.

Strengthening the Disaster Resilience of Educational Buildings

The protocol aims to support scientific and technical studies focused on reducing structural disaster risks in educational buildings, assessing the resilience of existing facilities against disasters, and developing research and development activities in this field.

By integrating the academic expertise and research capacity of participating universities into the process, the cooperation is expected to contribute to making educational buildings safer and more resilient to disasters.

As part of the initiative, OMU will contribute its academic and technical expertise to the studies and projects carried out under the protocol.
