The 104th anniversary of August 30 Victory Day was marked with wreath-laying, official ceremonies, performances, a parade, and an evening reception, with OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın representing the University.

The 104th anniversary of August 30 Victory Day was celebrated in Samsun with a series of events held throughout the day.

Wreath-Laying and Official Greetings Ceremony

The commemorations began in the morning with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk Monument, where Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) was represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın.

Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the program continued with an official greetings ceremony held at the Yaşayan Atatürk Hall in the Samsun Governor’s Office.

After the ceremony, officials proceeded to the celebration area encompassing İstiklal Square, Fuar Avenue, and Kurtuluş Road.

The program featured speeches highlighting the meaning and significance of August 30, as well as poetry recitations. The Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Folk Dance Ensemble performed traditional regional dances, followed by a concert by the Garrison Command Band.

Commandos then presented a demonstration and recited the Commando Oath. The daytime celebrations concluded with an official parade.

August 30 Victory Day Reception

The final event of the day was the August 30 Victory Day Reception, held at the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Multipurpose Hall.

The commemorations concluded with a group photograph taken in front of the protocol entrance to the Samsun Governor’s Office.

The August 30 Victory Day ceremony held at the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Şehit Ömer Halisdemir Hall was attended by Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı, Members of Parliament Ersan Aksu and Orhan Kırcalı, Garrison Commander Major General Fethi Oltulu, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Halit Doğan, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, Samsun University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın, Regional Administrative Court President Mehmet Barış, Chief Public Prosecutor Mustafa Çakmak, Provincial Police Chief Ahmet Arıbaş, Coast Guard Samsun Air Group Commander Colonel Alper Kaya, AK Party Provincial Chair Mehmet Köse, as well as numerous representatives of public institutions, citizens, and invited guests.
