OMU’s Academic Performance Recognized in the URAP World Ranking

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has been ranked among Türkiye’s leading higher education institutions in the 2025–2026 World Ranking released by the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) Research Laboratory of Middle East Technical University (METU).

The URAP World Ranking evaluates 3,776 universities worldwide with the highest academic performance. The ranking is based on indicators including article productivity, citation impact, total scientific publications, publication quality, citation quality, and international collaboration.

According to the URAP 2025–2026 World Ranking, OMU ranked 1,324th globally and 24th among the 129 Turkish universities included in the ranking. This achievement places OMU among Türkiye’s most successful universities in terms of scientific productivity, research capacity, and academic visibility.

OMU Climbed 208 Places in Five Years

URAP data show that OMU has maintained a steady upward trajectory in global rankings in recent years.

The university ranked 1,532nd globally in 2022, followed by 1,485th in 2023, 1,409th in 2024, 1,381st in 2025, and 1,324th in 2026. As a result, OMU advanced a total of 208 places in the world rankings over the past five years.

OMU also demonstrated strong performance nationally. While ranked 26th among Turkish universities in 2022, it improved to 24th place in the 2025–2026 ranking, reflecting its continued academic development at the national level.

OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın stated that the university’s success in the URAP 2025–2026 World Ranking is an important indicator of its research-oriented development strategy.

Commenting on the results, Rector Aydın said:

Research Performance and Academic Productivity Evaluated

The URAP ranking assesses universities’ research performance using objective bibliometric data. In addition to the quantity of scientific publications, it also evaluates publication quality, citation impact, and international academic collaborations.

OMU’s position in the 2025–2026 URAP World Ranking demonstrates the university’s continued progress in strengthening its scientific production capacity, research-oriented development, and international academic visibility.
