Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) ranked among the world’s leading universities in six subject areas in the 2026 World University Rankings by Subject published by Times Higher Education.

Times Higher Education (THE) announced the results of the 2026 World University Rankings by Subject, which evaluate the world’s leading universities across 11 academic fields based on indicators including teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement, and international outlook. In the rankings, Ondokuz Mayıs University continues to demonstrate strong academic performance at both national and international levels. OMU was ranked globally in three subject areas and entered the 1001+ band in three additional fields.

Ranked in education studies, physical sciences, and engineering

In the rankings, OMU was placed in the 601–800 band worldwide in Education Studies, 801–1000 in Physical Sciences, and 1001–1250 in Engineering. OMU also ranked in the 1001+ band globally in the fields of Medical and Health, Life Sciences, and Social Sciences.

Commenting on the results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın expressed her satisfaction with the university’s education- and research-oriented vision being reflected in international indicators, stating:

“Being ranked among the world’s respected universities in six different subject areas is a concrete reflection of our university’s qualified academic staff, strong research infrastructure, and quality-oriented governance approach. Alongside the fields in which we are ranked within the top 1,250 globally, we aim to maintain our upward momentum in other disciplines as well.
