Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) and Goethe-Institut Ankara have signed an important cooperation agreement aimed at supporting students in obtaining internationally recognized certification of their German language proficiency.

The agreement seeks to facilitate access to the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 examination for students enrolled in the German preparatory program at OMU’s School of Foreign Languages and for students in the German Language Teaching Program of the Faculty of Education, enabling them to certify their language skills through internationally recognized qualifications.

Scholarship support for Goethe-Zertifikat B1 examinations

Under the cooperation agreement, beginning in 2026, Goethe-Institut Ankara will provide full examination scholarships each year for up to 20 students enrolled in the German preparatory program. Students eligible for the scholarships will be selected based on the results of a placement examination administered by the School of Foreign Languages.

Internationally recognized language qualification

Aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, the Goethe-Zertifikat B1 examination comprehensively assesses listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, evaluating candidates’ language proficiency according to internationally accepted standards.

The certificate awarded upon successful completion of the examination is recognized worldwide and serves as a valuable qualification for both academic and professional purposes.

A significant step toward enhancing international opportunities

The cooperation agreement is regarded as an important step in OMU’s efforts to expand international opportunities for its students and further enhance the quality of foreign language education. By supporting access to internationally recognized language certification, the partnership aims to strengthen students’ academic mobility, employability, and global competitiveness.
