OMU delegation meets NAFSA President and CEO Fanta Aw at NAFSA 2026
ORLANDO, USA – The Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) delegation met with Fanta Aw, Executive Director and CEO of the NAFSA Association of International Educators, one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive international education organizations, during NAFSA 2026 Annual Conference & Expo in Orlando.
The OMU delegation included Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz, Rector’s Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Korunur Engiz, Head of the International Relations Office Dr. Ahmet Aycan, and Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tütüncü.
NAFSA CEO Fanta Aw praises Turkish higher education
During the meeting, discussions focused on global higher education partnerships and the international visibility of Turkish universities. Fanta Aw noted that Turkish higher education institutions were represented very effectively at NAFSA 2026 and expressed her appreciation for their strong participation and contributions to global education.
Rector Aydın thanks NAFSA for fostering international collaboration
Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın stated that the bilateral meetings held throughout the conference had been highly productive. She emphasized that significant discussions had taken place regarding the development of inter-university cooperation, the expansion of student and academic staff mobility, and the promotion of joint educational programs and research initiatives.
Aydın also conveyed her appreciation to the NAFSA leadership for providing a dynamic international platform that facilitates global academic collaboration and partnership-building.
