OMU expands global partnership network with universities in Egypt, Georgia, Costa Rica, and Taiwan at NAFSA 2026

ORLANDO, USA - Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) continues to strengthen its international presence and expand its global partnership network during the NAFSA 2026 Annual Conference & Expo in the United States. As a result of intensive academic diplomacy efforts, the university has signed major cooperation agreements in education and research with institutions from Egypt, Georgia, Costa Rica, and Taiwan.

Partnership established with Egypt’s Future University in Egypt

OMU has signed an academic cooperation agreement with Future University in Egypt, one of Egypt’s prominent higher education institutions. The agreement was signed by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and Future University in Egypt President Prof. Dr. Ebada Sarhan.

Cooperation protocol signed with Georgia’s Caucasus University

Continuing its series of international agreements at NAFSA 2026, OMU formalized its collaboration with Caucasus University, one of Georgia’s leading universities. The protocol was signed by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and Caucasus University Vice President Prof. Dr. Irena Melua.

Bilateral agreement with Costa Rica’s Universidad Internacional San Isidro Labrador

OMU also concluded a cooperation agreement with Universidad Internacional San Isidro Labrador, a prominent higher education institution in Costa Rica. The agreement was signed by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and Universidad Internacional San Isidro Labrador Rector Prof. Dr. Carlos Cortes Sandi.

New collaboration with Taiwan’s Chung Yuan Christian University

As part of the OMU delegation’s extensive academic diplomacy activities, a cooperation agreement was also signed with Chung Yuan Christian University of Taiwan. The protocol was signed by Dr. Ahmet Aycan, Head of OMU’s International Relations Office, and Dr. Hsiao-Yin Chen, Head of the International Relations Office at Chung Yuan Christian University.

Expanding opportunities for students and researchers

The signing ceremonies were attended by OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz, Rector’s Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Korunur Engiz, Head of the International Relations Office Dr. Ahmet Aycan, and Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tütüncü, alongside representatives from the international offices of the partner universities.

The newly signed agreements are expected to pave the way for a wide range of collaborative initiatives, including student and academic staff exchange programs, joint research projects, international scientific meetings, and the development of dual degree opportunities.

Through these partnerships, OMU continues to enhance its internationalization strategy while strengthening its academic and scientific connections across multiple continents.
