Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Terme Vocational School celebrated the graduation of 190 students who successfully completed their studies in the 2025–2026 academic year.

The graduation ceremony, which began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, was attended by Rector’s Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Korunur Engiz, Deputy Mayor of Terme İsmail Sezai Uzun, Director of Terme Vocational School Prof. Dr. Erol Terzi, academic and administrative staff, graduates, and their families.

Rector’s Advisor Engiz: “The ability to adapt to change is as important as professional knowledge”

Speaking at the ceremony, Rector’s Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Korunur Engiz congratulated the graduates and their families and emphasized the importance of vocational education.

“Today, we are celebrating not only a graduation but also the beginning of new journeys. Vocational schools play a vital role in preparing students for professional life by combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. With the knowledge and skills you have gained here, you will enter the workforce one step ahead. In today’s rapidly changing world, being open to innovation, adapting to change, and maintaining a commitment to lifelong learning are just as important as professional expertise. I believe the education you have received has provided you with a strong foundation. I wish you every success in your careers. May your path be open and your future bright.”

Director Terzi: “We educate qualified and experienced graduates”

Director of Terme Vocational School Prof. Dr. Erol Terzi noted that nearly 750 students are currently enrolled across six academic programs and highlighted the importance of practice-oriented education.

“Our programs in Food Technology, Food Quality Control, Foreign Trade, Logistics, Accounting and Tax Applications, and Marketing address the needs of both our region and our country. Through the 3+1 long-term workplace training model we have implemented in recent years, our students gain firsthand experience of their sectors. Our goal is to prepare graduates who are experienced, competent, and ready for professional life. Dear students, continue learning and developing yourselves. Our university will always remain your home.”

Valedictorian Özden: “This achievement is the result of a collective effort”

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, school valedictorian and Foreign Trade Program top graduate Duygu Özden emphasized that her success was made possible through the support of many people.

“There are many individuals whose contributions made this day possible. Throughout our education, we gained not only academic knowledge but also valuable professional experience. I would like to thank our professors and families for their support throughout this journey. The greatest strength behind this achievement has always been my family and my instructors. I wish all my fellow graduates a future filled with success.”

Top-Performing Students Received Awards

Following the speeches, certificates of achievement and awards were presented to students who ranked among the top performers both school-wide and within their respective programs.

School valedictorian Duygu Özden, a graduate of the Foreign Trade Program, engraved her name on the graduation plaque and received her certificate and award from Deputy Mayor of Terme İsmail Sezai Uzun.

The ceremony concluded with graduates tossing their caps into the air in celebration.
