Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) celebrated a significant milestone as its Information Technologies Vocational School graduated its first cohort of students, preparing future professionals in software development, game development, and unmanned systems technologies for careers in the rapidly evolving technology sector.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sumer, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Serhat Odabaş, Director of the Information Technologies Vocational School, vice directors, academic staff, graduates, and their families.

Following a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, the ceremony continued with opening speeches as 92 graduates officially completed their studies and took their first steps into professional life.

"You Are the Foundation of Tomorrow's Technologies"

Addressing the graduates, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sumer emphasized that they were beginning a new chapter equipped with knowledge, practical skills, and a strong sense of responsibility.

"You are the foundation of the technologies that will shape tomorrow. Always carry with you the knowledge you have gained, the guidance of your professors, and the unwavering support of your families."

"Future Students Will Follow the Path You Have Opened"

Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Serhat Odabaş highlighted the historic significance of the occasion, noting that the school was celebrating its first graduating class.

"Being the first graduates of a newly established school is not an ordinary achievement. Every student who joins this institution in the future will follow the path that you have opened."

He also reminded graduates that they are entering an era driven by information technologies, where fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and unmanned systems are transforming the world. He encouraged them to become innovators who create technology rather than simply use it.

"Today Is Not an Ending but the Beginning of New Journeys"

Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, Sude Nur Harmancı, a student in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technology Program, reflected on the two-year educational journey.

"Today is not an ending but the first step toward new beginnings. During these two years, we gained not only knowledge but also valuable experience through learning and growing together."

She thanked the academic staff, her family, and fellow students for their support throughout the program.

Following the speeches, graduates received their diplomas and academic achievement certificates. The ceremony concluded with the traditional cap toss, after which graduates gathered at the OMU Lake Photography Area to commemorate the occasion with graduation photographs.
