“Intercultural Day” at the School of Foreign Languages

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) School of Foreign Languages organized an event under the name of “Intercultural Day” in order to introduce different cultures and to bind native students and international students together.


We have shown great progress in internationalization
The event was opened with the opening speech of Asst. Prof. Emrah Ekmekçi, Director of School of Foreign Languages. Ekmekçi emphasized that OMU showed great progress in the process of internationalization. He also remarked that the number of international students started to increase every year, and that such increase was also observed in the School of Foreign Languages.

 

Director Ekmekçi also stated: “Our objective for organizing Intercultural Day is to bind Turkish students and international students in our School together, to enable our students to introduce their own cultures and to create awareness on the richness of melting different cultures in the same pot.”

 

Cultural Richness

In the event, Turkish students and international students opened stands introducing their own cultures and they exhibited the placards that they prepared. By this way, participating students and academicians benefited from the opportunity of receiving information about various cultures.


In the stands prepared by the students, introductory materials and foods were exhibited from different countries such as Turkey, Azerbaijan, China, France, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Japan, Nigeria, Scotland, Spain, Turkmenistan, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. Authorized officers of the School of Foreign Languages underlined that they aimed to organize this event more comprehensively in the following years.
