Year-end concert was performed at the Art Center of Metropolitan Municipality by the students of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Education’s Department of Music Education.

The concert began with one minute’s silence for the security officers who lost their lives because of the recent terrorist attacks.

Samsun Deputy Governor Hakan Kubalı, Dean of Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Yavuz Bayram, numerous academicians, and many guests attended the concert.

Turkish Folk Music Choir under the baton of Assoc. Prof. Yakup Alper Varış, who is also the Head of Music Education Department, performed beautiful folk songs in the first part of the two-part concert. Then the Turkish Classical Music Choir under the baton of Asst. Prof. Hülya Uzun, who is a member of Ondokuz Mayıs State Conservatory, performed a selection of immortal pieces of Turkish Classical Music such as “Geçsin Günler Haftalar”, “Bir Sevgi İstiyorum”, “Şarkılar Söyle O Sahillerde”.

In the second part of the concert, the orchestra under the baton of Assoc. Prof. Yakup Alper Varış performed Classical Western music and pop songs. At the end of the concert, the song entitled “Bu Aşk Fazla Sana” sung by Selin Işık Konay was highly admired and applauded; therefore, she sang the same song for a second time upon the request of the audience. Students taking part in the choir and singing songs as vocals received a standing ovation at the end of the concert.
