Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) and its Technology Transfer Office (TTO) have jointly developed Türkiye’s first indigenous and national career-focused social network, "JobSocial." This mobile application, equipped with an advanced search engine, not only facilitates the rapid transfer of academic knowledge to the industry but also offers young people opportunities for employment and internships.

Developed by a ten-member team of academics and students from OMU, the "JobSocial" mobile application stands out with its artificial intelligence features. It provides users with capabilities such as sharing articles, patents, and projects, posting updates, contacting experts, searching for companies, posting or finding job and internship opportunities, and matching CVs with job listings through AI-supported mechanisms. This application aims to serve as a digital bridge between the university and the industry.

"The App Will Serve Globally After Its Launch in the Turkish World"

OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal spoke about the app's setup process and objectives: "We have developed this wholly indigenous and national social network platform at OMU. This platform enables controlled sharing and evaluation of information and facilitates new initiatives. Available in app stores, this platform not only quickly transfers academic knowledge to the industry but also provides direct AI-supported matching for students’ internships or job searches and the industry's search for qualified employees. Being national and indigenous allows us to retain control over data and steer the future. It analyzes and controls data, matching it swiftly with appropriate entities. This platform is not only for OMU but for all academic knowledge and sectors across Türkiye.

The industry-focused sector is our primary contact. We are working to ensure that patents produced are directly delivered to relevant industries and to identify patents of interest. We are developing an AI tool that facilitates expert searches. Our goal is to enhance job and internship opportunities for students. This platform will enable the direct application of university knowledge to the industry and society, providing access to university patents and ensuring they reach the relevant parties."

Powerful Search Engine to Find Experts in Any Field

Ismail İşeri, a lecturer in Computer Engineering at OMU Engineering Faculty and the project coordinator, added:

"This is a national and indigenous social network project developed in collaboration with OMU and TTO. Its primary feature is to create a digital bridge between the university and industry, ensuring that the knowledge generated in academia reaches the relevant people as quickly as possible. The platform allows individuals, companies, and all academics to share knowledge. The app, the result of 2.5 years of work, contains many important features, including an AI-based matching algorithm. For example, when an academician specializing in artificial intelligence shares an article, the AI ensures it reaches other interested users on the social network, thus facilitating the quickest and most accurate dissemination of information. This project plays a crucial role in quickly turning knowledge into products and creating added value for our country. We offer significant conveniences for companies in the app, matching CVs with job listings through AI to provide a faster user experience. Additionally, thanks to a powerful search engine, we provide the opportunity to find individuals with the desired expertise.”
