Students from the Departments of Interior Architecture and Urban and Regional Planning at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Architecture have achieved significant success in one of Turkey's most prestigious architecture competitions—the 2025 "Murat Artu and the Passion for Architecture Student Competition."

Four students from the Interior Architecture Department and one from the Urban and Regional Planning Department were awarded a total of five distinct and prestigious prizes for their creative and innovative projects.

Organized in memory of the late architect Murat Artu, the competition aims to keep his legacy alive while encouraging first-year students to develop a love for the architectural profession by rewarding their creative ideas. This year’s competition, held under the theme “The Future Will Come”, was launched with the support of notable institutions such as the Artu Family, the Association of Turkish Independent Architects (TSMD), and the Architects’ Association 1927. The national competition brought together students from architecture faculties across the country to express their creative vision around a shared theme.

OMU Faculty of Architecture students stood out among the entries evaluated by this year’s jury. The awards won by our students are as follows:

Interior Architecture Department:

•  Fatma Ezgi İbrahimbaş – Artu Family Award
•  İrem Babür - BODTÜM (Bodrum METU Alumni Association) Special Award
•  Ayçanur Şengül - Studio 14 Special Award in Memory of Doruk Pamir
•  Melek Çalışkan - Architects' Association 1927 Special Award

Urban and Regional Planning Department:

• Betül Dal – Bodrum Architecture Center and Library Special Award

This achievement showcases our faculty’s vision for design education and the creative potential of its students at the national level.
