OMU’s Lifelong Learning University Attracts Strong Interest from Adults Aged 55–75

Applications have been completed for the Lifelong Learning University (YBÜ), established by Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) in cooperation with Samsun Metropolitan Municipality for adults aged 55–75.

Members of the public showed strong interest in the program, with applications beginning early in the day at the Hazinedarzade Süleymanpaşa Cultural House.

Designed around the goal of supporting healthy ageing, the educational program will provide participants with opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills, explore new areas of interest, and enrich their social lives.

Courses at the Lifelong Learning University are scheduled to begin in October.

The high level of participation seen from the first hours of the application process reflected significant public interest in the initiative.

Aiming to strengthen interaction between the University and the wider community, YBÜ is designed to offer participants a rich learning experience combining academic education with social and cultural activities.

Supporting Active Participation in Community Life

The project seeks to promote active ageing and make lifelong learning a sustainable part of participants’ lives through educational programs that support their physical, cognitive, and social well-being.

With a curriculum developed around the needs of adults in later life, the Lifelong Learning University also aims to strengthen intergenerational interaction, the sharing of knowledge and experience, and participants’ active involvement in community life.

Courses and activities will take place in a building on the OMU campus that will also house the Üstün Küsefoğlu Science Communication Office.
