OMU Folk Dance Ensemble Wins Two Awards at Turkish University Championships

The Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Folk Dance Ensemble achieved outstanding success at the Turkish University Folk Dance Championships, organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF), earning national honors in two different competition categories.

Following months of intensive preparation and disciplined rehearsals, the OMÜ team impressed both the judging panel and the audience with its performances during the national finals.

The Samsun Region Team was awarded third place in the Traditional Non-Choreographed Category, while the Artvin Region Team secured second place in the Traditional Choreographed (Stylized) Category, giving OMU a double podium finish.

Appreciation for Contributors

Following the competition, the university congratulated all student performers for their dedication, teamwork, and commitment throughout the preparation process.

Special thanks were also extended to OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emirzeoğlu, Academic Advisor of the Folk Dance Ensemble and Head of the Department of Anatomy, Selman Aslan, Head of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, and İhsan Güler, Branch Manager for Culture and Health, Culture and Sports, for their continuous support.

With these achievements, the Ondokuz Mayıs University Folk Dance Ensemble successfully represented both the university and the city of Samsun, once again demonstrating its strong tradition and excellence in Turkish folk dance.
