Four instrumental compositions by Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Tatar, Head of the Department of Islamic Philosophy at the Faculty of Theology of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), have been accepted into the official repertoire of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) following a successful jury evaluation.

The accepted works include Mahur Saz Semaisi, Nihavend Saz Semaisi, Şedaraban Saz Semaisi, and Acem-Kürdi Longa. Performances of the compositions have also been shared through the Faculty of Theology's official social media channels.

In addition to his academic contributions to the field of Islamic philosophy, Prof. Dr. Tatar is widely recognized for his expertise in the theory and performance of Classical Turkish Music. Throughout his academic career, he has introduced original concepts, such as dialogical prosody, to doctoral research in Turkish religious music. He is also a professional performer on a wide range of traditional instruments, including the oud (ud), violin, bağlama, lavta, tambur, ney, and rebab, while also working on the construction and restoration of musical instruments.

Expressing his satisfaction with the inclusion of his works in the TRT repertoire, Prof. Dr. Tatar noted that another of his instrumental compositions, a Saz Semaisi in the Kürdili Hicazkar maqam, is currently under evaluation by the TRT jury.

Highlighting the importance of combining musical theory with performance, Prof. Dr. Tatar stated that the Faculty of Theology continues to foster interest in Classical Turkish Music through both scholarly research and artistic practice. He added that the faculty's previous concert projects, "Uzak ve Yakın" (2018) and "Kırmızı, Siyah, Mavi" (2019), played a significant role in the artistic development that led to this achievement.

Congratulating Prof. Dr. Tatar, Prof. Dr. Faruk Sancar, Dean of the Faculty of Theology, emphasized that achievements of this kind enhance the faculty's visibility and contribution to both cultural life and the arts.
