OMU and Malaysia’s UTM strengthen strategic academic partnership at NAFSA 2026

ORLANDO, USA – Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) held a high-level meeting with Mohd Ariffin bin Abu Hassan, President of the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education and Director of Internationalisation at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, during NAFSA 2026 Annual Conference & Expo.

OMU–UTM collaboration and Satellite Lab Project discussed

During the meeting, the two institutions reviewed their ongoing academic cooperation in detail. Particular attention was given to the Satellite Lab Project, including joint research activities, collaborative scientific publications, and opportunities for expanding future academic initiatives between OMU and UTM.

The discussions emphasized that successful internationalization depends not only on establishing new partnerships but also on strengthening and sustaining existing strategic collaborations. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing the long-standing partnership between the two universities.

APAIE 2027 invitation extended to Rector Aydın

As part of the meeting, APAIE President Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin bin Abu Hassan formally invited OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın to attend the APAIE 2027 Conference and Exhibition as an honorary guest. The conference will be hosted by UTM in Kuala Lumpur from 21–25 March 2027.

Rector Aydın thanked Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin bin Abu Hassan for the invitation and highlighted OMU’s strong commitment to developing academic and scientific partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region. She noted that international collaborations play a significant role in enhancing the university’s education, research, and knowledge production capacity.

Strengthening OMU’s global academic networks

The meeting was regarded as another important milestone in OMU’s efforts to expand its global academic network and advance its internationalization agenda. The discussions reinforced the university’s commitment to building sustainable international partnerships that support research excellence, academic mobility, and innovation.
