Standing out with its national and international scientific achievements, Ondokuz Mayıs University honored its academic productivity through the program titled “2025 Academic Achievement Gathering – Shaping the Future with the Power of Knowledge.”

Held at the OMU Guesthouse, the program recognized academics and students for their achievements in Web of Science (WOS) publications, the International Invention Fair (ISIF’25), TEKNOFEST, and patent competitions.

“The vision of becoming a ‘Research University’ is among our primary strategic goals”

In her opening address, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın stated:

“In the Turkish higher education system, Research Universities are positioned as qualified institutions that serve as the driving force of scientific processes, pave the way for innovation, and guide societal development. We are resolutely pursuing our vision of becoming a ‘Research University,’ which stands among the primary strategic goals of our university. Within this framework, creating a strong research ecosystem that encourages competitive scientific output, supports innovative results, and enhances our international visibility remains one of our top priorities.”

“Our academics and students have made strong contributions to our journey toward becoming a Research University”

Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın continued her remarks as follows:

“Today, we have come together to congratulate our esteemed academics and students who have made valuable contributions to the visionary steps of Ondokuz Mayıs University and to share our collective pride. The Research University indicators consist of a total of 31 criteria under three main headings: Research Capacity, Research Quality, and Interaction and Collaboration. Our valued academics and students present here today have advanced our university across these performance indicators, making strong contributions to our journey toward becoming a Research University.”

“Of the 1,230 scientific publications produced, 325 were in the Q1 category”

Rector Aydın stated:

“The fact that 325 of the 1,230 scientific publications produced in 2025 were in the Q1 category is a clear and concrete indicator of this success. Our distinguished faculty members who were awarded within the scope of open-access support for producing at least five Q1 publications have enhanced not only the quantity but also the quality of our scientific output. The year 2025 has been a significant period for our university in which patent production increased markedly and gained qualitative strength. With 26 patent applications, 22 national and 1 international patent registrations, and 20 Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications, our university once again demonstrated its strong commitment to innovation and intellectual property.”

“We will continue to move forward with determination”

Referring to the achievements of academics and students in ISIF’25, TEKNOFEST, and patent competitions, Rector Aydın concluded:

“With this understanding, we will continue to move forward with determination toward the goal of becoming a stronger, more productive, and more visible university together. I sincerely thank all our academics, students, and stakeholders who have contributed to the brand value of Ondokuz Mayıs University through their dedicated efforts and who have strengthened our country’s development initiatives.”
