OMUKAM Women’s Choir brings Anatolian melodies to life at OMU

The “Heritage: Melodies from Anatolia” concert, organized by the Ondokuz Mayıs University Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center (OMUKAM) Women’s Choir, met with music lovers.

Held at the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center (AKM), the concert was conducted by Prof. Dr. Bahar Güdek and brought the timeless melodies of Anatolia to the stage through the powerful interpretations of women.

The concert, which attracted strong interest, was attended by Samsun Member of Parliament Murat Çan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sumer, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Erhan Burak Pancar, Rector’s Advisor Prof. Dr. Serkan Şen, and many art enthusiasts.

The 39-member choir, composed of academic and administrative staff and students, delivered an unforgettable musical performance with its extensive repertoire. The concert featured, respectively, the pieces “Gelevera Deresi,” “Nefesim Nefesine,” “Güldaniyem,” “Gurbet,” “Baharım Sensin,” “Drama Köprüsü” (solo), “Aman Aman Bağdatlı,” “Hasretinle Yandı Gönlüm,” “Mimoza Çiçeğim,” “Dert Olur” (solo), “Dolama Dolamayı,” “Dilirga,” “Ayrıldım Güler miyim,” “Ürgüp’te Mis Kokar Seher Yelleri,” and “Vallahi O Yardır.”

The orchestra accompanying the concert included Ali Burak Sayın on clarinet, Baran Vural on guitar, Yusuf Kağan Terzi on bağlama, Doğukan Solmaz on violin, Bartu Cengiz Şentürk on bass guitar, Alp Eray Kaymak on flute, Neslihan Öntürk on bendir, Abdullah Karakuş on cajón, and Melih Kuzcalı on drums.

At the end of the program, a certificate of appreciation was presented to choir conductor Prof. Dr. Bahar Güdek by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sumer in recognition of her successful performance and contributions to preserving cultural values.

The concert concluded with a commemorative photo session.
