Dr. Uğur Kılınç Named One of Four International Fellows Exploring the Historical Roots of Vampire Literature in Transylvania

Dr. Uğur Kılınç of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Ondokuz Mayıs University’s (OMU) Faculty of Communication has been selected for the Vampire Literature Short Story Fellowship 2026, a programme that aims to connect contemporary vampire literature with its historical, cultural, and geographical roots.

Selected as one of four fellows worldwide, representing Türkiye, Ukraine, India, and Brazil, Dr. Kılınç will spend one month in Romania’s Transylvania region in September, conducting research and developing his creative writing as part of the programme organised by Vlad Village Ltd.

During the fellowship, he will carry out research at several historically and culturally significant locations, including the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Saxon village of Viscri, Bran Castle, Poenari Castle from the period of Vlad the Impaler, the medieval town of Sighișoara, where Vlad III was born, and Brașov.
