Ondokuz Mayıs University, Prof. Basri Erdem Art Exhibition and Interview was held.

A workshop was held in the Printing Shop with the cooperation of OMU Caricature Club, Faculty of Fine Arts, and Faculty of Education with the participation of İstanbul Işık University Lecturer Professor Basri Erdem. Primary school students attending the workshop as guest students carried out applications of lithography, engraving and oil painting. Dean of Faculty of Fine Arts Çağatay İnam Karahan stated that they wish to increase the number of such events with the cooperation of other universities.

The Prof. Basri Erdem Art Exhibition Opening was held after the workshop. Speaking during the opening Basri Erdem said “I opened an art exhibition at OMU on the occasion of 15 April International Art Day. We have 35 oil paintings, 4 products carried out with lithography and engraving techniques. We aim to inform the students here about these techniques. We also held an interview and study during the noon hours. Our entire effort is to prevent the children in Anatolia from missing these techniques. It is grievous that such techniques are gathered only in great cities. I undertook this job on voluntarily. I visited about 15 universities. Lastly I came here. I wish the students avail of this exhibition.”

Pointing out the importance of such exhibitions from the perspective of students, OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sevilhan Mennan stated that the exhibition will be of utter benefit for students and stressed that it is important that this day coincided with the 15 April International Art Day.

After the opening speeches, Head of OMU Caricature Club Assis. Prof. Dr. Tarık Yazar, academic staff, and students visited the exhibition.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors until 25 April.
