Gillyflowers to the Elderly from University Students

Students from the Vocational School of Health Services at Ondokuz Mayıs University gave gillyflowers to the elderly on the street within the scope of the "Week of Respect for the Elderly".

The students of OMU performed a meaningful activity in Samsun within the scope of "18-24 March Week of Respect for the Elderly". The students of the Vocational School of Health Services at OMU went on a walk on Istiklal Street (Çiftlik) in İlkadım province and they gave gillyflowers and brochures to the elderly. Students wearing masks on their faces chanted slogans and sang songs along the walk.

Faculty Member Dr. Faruk Tan, Director of the Vocational School of Health Services at OMU, gave information about the event and he remarked that they wanted to create awareness about the significance of the elderly in our lives together with their 300 students.

Tugce Ozcan, a student from the Vocational School of Health Services at OMU, pointed out that the elderly had an important place in the society and she added: "We should not ignore them. We love them and we always respect them. All of us will be getting old in the future. We should not forget this reality and we always remind it to other people".

The elderly also expressed their satisfaction with the event.
