The legendary “57th Infantry Regiment’s”, whose name is recorded in the annals of world history through the bravery they have shown during the Battle of Gallipoli, Battle Standard, which was protected at the cost of its soldiers’ lives, is entrusted to Ondokuz Mayıs University. The Standard will be presented to Rector Prof. Sait Bilgiç on May 19, Friday at a ceremony which will be held at Samsun Governorate.
Following the ceremony, The Standard of the 57th Regiment will be displayed at the courtyard of the Grand Mosque between 11:00 – 14:00.
OMU will be the home to the 57th Regiment Standard for one year. OMU will display the relic at the main campus and various other locations throughout the year, and during this time the heroes of the Regiment will be remembered thorough various events.
