Brand Marketing Director of n11 Mr. Ömürden Sezgin has been a guest of Faculty of Communication. Mr. Sezgin addressed and exemplified his experiences in the sector to the students at the seminar on “Digital Marketing and E-Commerce” held at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Communication.

Faculty of Communication Vice Deans Asst. Prof. Sinan Kaya and Asst. Prof. Ahmet Oktan, Head of Journalism Department Assoc. Prof. Onur Bekiroğlu, Head of Radio/Television/Cinema Department Asst. Prof. Ömer Çakın, Head of Public Relations and Publicity Asst. Prof. Recep Yılmaz, instructors, and students of Communication Faculty and Çarşamba Community Exchange Vocational School have attended the event.

Sezgin, who was a member of the team that established n11.com, one of the most successful electronic commerce companies in the recent years, in 2013 has emphasized the importance of branding in digital marketing. Explaining that branding begins with “definition”, Sezgin continued his speech and said the following; “Brand perception should be consistent. Otherwise, there will be a lack of communication between individuals. In order to prevent this from happening, one should choose the brand name correctly, and should avoid from getting different addresses.”

“Target Group’s Criteria Should be Taken into Consideration”

In his presentation, Sezgin specified the things to do as a “brand engineer”, and pointed out the need to research, analysis, observation, and strategy development in order to create a good brand. Laying emphasis on the importance of field research, “The target group’s criteria should be taken into consideration while conducting a research. When you don’t do that, you cannot produce a healthy brand”, said Sezgin.

At the end of the seminar, Sezgin gifted a book named “Yerim Seni İstanbul”, which is collaboratively written by him and five of his friends, to the Faculty of Communication to show his appreciation for being invited to OMU, and Vice Dean Oktan presented a certificate of appreciation to Sezgin.

Ömürden Sezgin was born in 1981 in Samsun. He graduated from Samsun Anatolian High School. He completed his undergraduate education at Middle East Technical University (METU) Department of Industrial Engineering; and his post graduate education at METU in 2007. He is currently working as Brand Marketing Manager at n11. In addition to working as Brand Marketing Manager, Sezgin has participated in many different projects. He is the founder of youth projects such as “Sonradan Gurmeler, Sırtçantalılar, and Gurmebüs”, and is among the collaborative authors of books “TecrübEM, SeyahatnamEM, and Yerim Seni İstanbul”.
