Positioning sustainability and energy efficiency among the core elements of its institutional governance approach, Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has documented its efforts in the field of energy management in line with international standards and has been awarded the ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Certification.

With the certificate issued by BBS Certification Training and Surveillance Services, compliance with energy management system standards within the scope of higher education and hospital services has been ensured, with the aim of achieving effective and efficient energy use. The certification, carried out in accordance with BBS’s audit and certification procedures, will be valid for a period of one year.

In previous years, Ondokuz Mayıs University organized Energy Management Systems certificate programs to raise awareness of the importance of energy, energy management systems, and the relevant clauses of international standards. Having achieved significant progress in this process, OMU successfully obtained the “TR EN ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Certificate” shortly after receiving the “TS EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certificate” and the “TS EN ISO 10002 Customer Satisfaction Certificate.”

Rector Aydın: “We continue our work with an understanding of efficient resource use and environmental responsibility”

Stating that Ondokuz Mayıs University’s receipt of the ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Certification is a significant indicator of its sustainability vision, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın said:

“In line with our management approach based on energy efficiency, we continue our work with an understanding of efficient resource use and environmental responsibility. The ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Certificate is a concrete outcome of our University’s quality-oriented and sustainable governance approach. I would like to thank all our academic and administrative staff who contributed to this process and believe that the achievements attained will further strengthen our environmental awareness and institutional efficiency.”
