OMU Animal Hospital continues nationwide leadership with 30,842 patients in 2025

The Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Education, Research, and Application Hospital provided veterinary healthcare services to a total of 30,842 animals in 2025.

Operating under the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the hospital delivered veterinary healthcare services throughout 2025 to a wide range of animals, from companion animals to farm animals, as well as from exotic species to wildlife. It was noted that the hospital continues to maintain its leading position nationwide with its modern medical facilities and expert staff.

During 2025, a total of 20,026 cats, 8,202 dogs, 1,094 exotic animals, 375 poultry animals, 127 sheep and goats, 705 calves, 203 cattle and buffaloes, 55 horses, and 55 wild animals were treated at the hospital.

Commenting on the matter, OMU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Chief Veterinarian Prof. Dr. Didem Pekmezci stated:

“Ondokuz Mayıs University Veterinary Research and Application Hospital successfully treated a total of 30,842 patients in 2025. This figure demonstrates not only quantitatively but also qualitatively that our hospital holds an important place in veterinary healthcare delivery in Türkiye. The care we show to each patient and the modern medical services we provide are an indication of our commitment to animal welfare.”

Referring also to the academic success of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Pekmezci said:

“These achievements are also a reflection of the quality of education at our faculty. According to the 2025 YKS placement results, our Veterinary Medicine Program ranked fourth among its counterparts in Türkiye in terms of the highest base score. This stands as evidence of the confidence placed in our graduates and the academic success of our faculty.
