Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın Visits Tanyeli UCAV Team to Show Support

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın visited the Tanyeli Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) Team, which is set to compete in the Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle Competition organized under TEKNOFEST and coordinated by Baykar Technology.

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz also accompanied the visit, which took place at Tekno-OMÜ, the university’s center for technology and innovation.

They Will Represent OMU in the Final

The Tanyeli UCAV Team was established in December 2024 within Ondokuz Mayıs University. The team is composed of one academic advisor from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and nine students.

Following its foundation, the Tanyeli Team underwent an intensive preparation process and successfully completed key phases of the competition, including the Technical Proficiency Form, Critical Design Report, Flight Demonstration Video, and System Description Video, thereby qualifying for the final stage.

Final to Take Place in Gökçeada

The Tanyeli UCAV Team will represent OMU in the final round of the competition, which will be held at the Gökçeada Airport in Çanakkale from August 27 to September 2, 2025.

During the visit, Rector Prof. Dr. Aydın congratulated the team members, conveyed her best wishes for success, and emphasized that the university will continue to support students' scientific and technological projects at all times.
