The "17th Laboratory Animal Usage Certification Training Program", organized by the Local Ethics Committee for Animal Experiments (HADYEK) at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), has officially commenced.
Coordinated by the OMU Continuing Education Center (OMÜSEM), the program attracted a total of 57 researchers from Samsun, Tokat, Ordu, Amasya, Ankara, Yozgat, and Rize. The theoretical component of the training was delivered online via the OMU Distance Education Center (UZEM).
Following the online classes, an opening ceremony was held at the Mustafa Kemal Güneşdoğdu Amphitheater Block on the OMU Kurupelit Campus. The ceremony was attended by OMU Secretary General Prof. Dr. Erhan Pancar, HADYEK Chair Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ayyıldız, Director of the Laboratory Animals Application and Research Center (DEHAM) Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Aksoy, OMÜSEM Director Dr. Lecturer Özgür Atakan, and the course participants.
In his opening remarks, HADYEK Chair Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ayyıldız expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the training, emphasizing that the course would offer participants valuable benefits.
Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Aksoy, Director of DEHAM, highlighted that the center has been operating for many years and continues to provide high-quality training to participants from various regions. He noted that the center possesses all the necessary technical infrastructure for comprehensive training.
OMU Secretary General Prof. Dr. Erhan Pancar thanked the participants for joining the course and wished them success in their training.
As part of the program, participants will receive 40 hours of theoretical training, followed by two separate sessions of 35-hour practical training at DEHAM between June 16–20, 2025 and June 23–27, 2025. Those who successfully pass the practical exam will be awarded the "Laboratory Animal Usage Certificate."
The opening program concluded with a commemorative group photo of the participants and officials.
