OMU’s 800-bed new hospital project included in the 2026 Investment Program
The new hospital project planned for the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Health Practice and Research Center Hospital (Faculty of Medicine Hospital) has been accepted by the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) Plan and Budget Commission and included in the 2026 Investment Program.
Planned to be constructed on an area of approximately 120,000 square meters with a capacity of 800 beds, the new hospital has been designed in line with a contemporary healthcare approach, aiming to provide patients with more comfortable and higher-quality services.
Ranked among the priority projects of Fatma Aydın, Rector of OMU, the new hospital investment was included in the investment program following intensive and determined efforts. Upon completion of the project, it is aimed to strengthen access to healthcare services for the regional population and to carry out the education and clinical training processes of Faculty of Medicine students under modern physical conditions. The new hospital will make a significant contribution to the healthcare infrastructure of the Black Sea Region, particularly Samsun, and will serve as a strategic investment that advances the university’s education, research, and practice capacity.
Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın described the inclusion of the new hospital project in the 2026 Investment Program as a highly important development for both the university and the region.
“This project means higher-quality healthcare services, stronger medical education, and a more advanced scientific research infrastructure”
Rector Aydın stated:
“Having our new hospital project, on which we have been working meticulously for a long time, included in the investment program is a historic step for our university and our region. This project is not merely a physical investment; it represents higher-quality healthcare services, stronger medical education, and a more advanced scientific research infrastructure.”
“We aim to make our university a reference center in the field of healthcare”
Drawing attention to the contribution the new hospital will make to regional healthcare services, Aydın said:
“We will build a modern, technologically equipped, patient- and staff-oriented healthcare complex that will be able to respond more effectively to the healthcare needs of the Black Sea Region, particularly Samsun. Our goal is to ensure that our citizens have access to the highest level of healthcare services and to make our university a reference center in the field of healthcare.”
“May our new hospital project bring good fortune to our university, our city, and our region”
Thanking all institutions and stakeholders who supported the project, Rector Aydın used the following statements:
