According to the 2025 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) placement results, Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) emerged as one of the most preferred universities in Türkiye.

OMU ranked prominently in the list of state universities with the highest minimum entrance scores. In this ranking, 37 OMU programs placed within the top 10. In the overall ranking that includes both public and private universities, 21 OMU programs secured a spot in the top 10—once again highlighting OMU’s strong academic standing.

In the ranking among state universities, OMU’s programs achieved the following placements:

Quota Occupancy Rates

In the 2025 YKS general placement results:

• All 81 associate degree programs at OMU reached 100% occupancy.
• 86 out of 88 undergraduate programs were fully filled (100%), with only 20 vacancies in 2 programs.

Achievements Across Faculties

• Insurance and Actuarial Sciences (Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences) and Precision Agriculture and Agricultural Robots (Faculty of Agriculture) were the top-ranked programs nationwide in terms of base scores.
• Orthotics and Prosthetics (Faculty of Health Sciences), Information Security Technology, and Software Development (Faculty of Science) ranked 2nd in their respective fields among state universities.
• The Communication and Design Program (Faculty of Communication, Çarşamba campus) ranked 3rd among state universities.
• The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine maintained its position as the 4th most preferred veterinary faculty in Türkiye.
• The Faculty of Pharmacy (Bafra campus), which accepted its third cohort of students this year, continued its upward trend, ranking 11th among state university pharmacy faculties

OMU Faculty of Medicine Ranks 2nd Nationwide

OMU made a strong showing in the top scorers:

• The OMU Faculty of Medicine became the second-highest scoring faculty of medicine among public universities, admitting students with a minimum score of 547.54.

Rise in Student Preferences

Among the 3,865 undergraduate students who chose and were placed at OMU this year, approximately 490 had national rankings under 20,000, demonstrating the university’s appeal to high-achieving students.

With the start of registration for the 2025–2026 academic year, the increased preference for OMU reflects the university’s academic excellence and the strong demand for its innovative programs.
