Samsun Teknopark housed the “Women Entrepreneurs Share: How We Succeeded” organized by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Press SBB TV Youtube channel, with the support of Ondokuz Mayıs University and Samsun Teknopark.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir, Ondokuz Mayıs University Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Başoğlu, KOSGEB (Small and Medium Industry Development Organization) President Nebahat Livaoğlu, OKA (Middle Black Sea Development Agency) Secretary General İbrahim Ethem Şahin, Samsun Teknopark Board Member Adem Gül and General Manager Ekrem Altan, entrepreneurs and many students attended the event.

Teknopark is a great chance

Delivering the opening speech of the panel, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal said, “Teknopark has staff that can provide consultancy, creating a vision that opens a window for you within walking distance of the campus and provides both opportunity and space for you to project your idea. Especially in the last two years, Teknopark has made a breakthrough. We hope you will start your venture and incorporate it at a very young age, even in university. We want you to generate ideas and get into production and the production line.”

University is the camp of your life

Stating that students should consider their university years as the camp of their lives, Rector Ünal said, “You need to use this time as an opportunity to contribute to yourself, your family, and your country in terms of the future. Remember to try, do not hesitate to try. Teknopark, or the technology transfer office, offers a serious opportunity to OMU students. We will provide logistic support through Teknopark in projecting the idea you can create, especially the group work, and we will mobilize all the opportunities of Teknopark for you. We made changes in the university and started giving the R&D support program at the undergraduate level. We financially support and will continue to support the projects of our undergraduate students.”

Century of Türkiye

Rector Ünal pointed out the significant contribution of students to the vision of Türkiye and continued, “Our country has a vision. We are in the process declared by our President as the Century of Türkiye. You can express and realize yourself with the incentives and support provided by the state, the logistical opportunities, and the financial support provided by the university at this point. You can make a profound contribution to the 100 years of Türkiye discourse. Education is not just being informed but the process of transforming knowledge into skill. So you have to learn how to learn. You must build your own world and enterprise with what you have learned. Failures teach you that the path taken is not right. If you are reading the alphabet with one letter, there is nothing you can do, but if attempt A fails, consider the 28 letters behind, and you will be successful in your next study by approaching it more strategically. Every venture has a story behind. The development period of Ondokuz Mayıs University in the last two years revealed that it has set itself a vision to contribute to the region’s economy, production, and development and covered a serious distance in this sense.”

Our opportunity is OMU’s opportunity

Taking the stage and wishing the students good luck, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “Every individual’s life is important to them. Your ability to live a qualified and quality life without motivating yourself to a higher place and without getting acquainted with it may be feeble. The motivation in this country and the motivation in different countries are different. You are the most crucial point between our university and our city. OMU’s opportunity is our opportunity. Our opportunity is OMU’s opportunity. No one will live your life for you, and you will determine your own life.”

After the opening speeches, the panel continued with eight women entrepreneurs sharing their own entrepreneurial stories and ended with the award ceremony.
