200 Pheasants Released into the Wild at OMU to Support Biodiversity

A total of 200 pheasants were released into the wild at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) as part of an initiative aimed at supporting wildlife, protecting natural habitats, and contributing to biodiversity conservation.

The event was attended by OMU Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten, Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz, and Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sumer; Secretary General Prof. Dr. Erhan Burak Pancar; representatives of the Regional Directorate of National Parks and the Samsun Directorate of Forestry Operations; and members of the Cemre Student Community.

Supporting Biodiversity Conservation

As part of the initiative, 200 pheasants were released into suitable natural habitats.

The release was intended to support wildlife populations and contribute to efforts to conserve biodiversity.

The event also highlighted the importance of viewing natural areas as interconnected ecosystems in which different species coexist and interact, while helping raise awareness of wildlife conservation.

Cooperation between Public Institutions, the University and Students

By bringing together OMU, public institutions, and students, the initiative emphasized the value of cooperation in efforts to protect nature and wildlife.
