OMU Taekwondo Team Wins Four Medals at European Universities Combat Championships

The Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Taekwondo Team achieved an impressive international result at the EUSA European Universities Combat Championships in Tirana, Albania, winning a total of four medals: one gold, two silver, and one bronze.

Held from 7 to 11 September 2026, the championships saw OMU athletes reach the podium in several categories, adding a new international achievement to the University’s sporting record.

Kardelen Demir Crowned European Champion

Kardelen Demir delivered a standout performance, defeating her opponents to become European champion and claim the gold medal.

Senanur Çelik and Berat Kurt each finished second in their respective categories, earning silver medals, while Edanur Çelik secured third place and a bronze medal.

With these results, the OMU Taekwondo Team completed the championships with four medals in total.

OMU Athletes Reach the European Podium

Prepared for the competition under the guidance of Head Coach Sebahattin Yaşar, the OMU athletes added another international success to the University’s achievements in sport.
