OMU Signs 10 New MoUs and Holds 41 International Meetings at EAIE 2026

During EAIE 2026, OMU held 41 bilateral meetings with institutions from 26 countries, signed 10 MoUs, concluded a three-year cooperation agreement with QS, and expanded its international academic network.

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) strengthened its international academic network through a series of meetings and agreements at the 36th EAIE Conference and Exhibition (EAIE 2026), one of the world’s leading gatherings for international higher education.

Held in Glasgow from 8 to 11 September 2026, EAIE 2026 brought together institutions and professionals from across the global higher education community. Represented at the Study in Türkiye Pavilion, OMU conducted meetings with universities and higher education organizations from different countries under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın.

The University’s participation focused on developing new international academic partnerships and expanding cooperation in student and staff mobility, research, projects, and institutional collaboration.

41 Bilateral Meetings with Institutions from 26 Countries

During EAIE 2026, the OMU delegation held 41 bilateral meetings with higher education institutions from 26 countries and signed 10 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).

The discussions covered a broad range of potential cooperation areas, including student and academic staff mobility, joint research, scientific events, and international projects.

Through these meetings, OMU took further steps toward strengthening its existing international academic network while establishing new institutional partnerships.

The OMU delegation consisted of Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, Rector’s Advisor Prof. Dr. Emine Şendurur, Head of the International Relations Office Dr. Ahmet Aycan, and Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tütüncü.

Turkish National Agency President İlker Astarcı Visits the OMU Booth

As part of EAIE 2026, İlker Astarcı, President of the Turkish National Agency, visited the OMU booth and met with Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and the University delegation.

The meeting included discussions on OMU’s internationalization activities, its Erasmus+ initiatives, and opportunities to further develop international cooperation in higher education.

To commemorate the visit, Astarcı presented Rector Aydın with a Turkish flag pin.

Three-Year Cooperation Agreement with QS

One of the key developments for OMU during EAIE 2026 was the signing of a three-year cooperation agreement with QS Quacquarelli Symonds, an international higher education analytics and rankings organization.

Under the agreement, OMU’s performance in international rankings will be assessed through data-driven analysis, while activities will also focus on strengthening the University’s academic reputation and global visibility.

The cooperation is expected to support a more comprehensive assessment of OMU’s current position across international indicators, increase the visibility of its strengths, and help identify areas with potential for further development.

For OMU, which currently holds Candidate Research University status, the agreement is also expected to contribute to institutional efforts aimed at strengthening research performance and international competitiveness.

Official Meeting in Edinburgh

Ahead of the EAIE 2026 program, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın also met in Edinburgh with Ambassador Hakan Kıvanç, Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Edinburgh.

The meeting focused on opportunities to develop academic and scientific cooperation with higher education institutions in the United Kingdom.

Discussions addressed ways to strengthen inter-university relations, expand joint academic activities, and create new opportunities for OMU to establish partnerships with UK higher education institutions.

Through its meetings in Glasgow and Edinburgh, OMU added new collaborations to its ongoing efforts to expand its international academic network, strengthen its global visibility, and advance its goal of becoming a research university.

The University will continue to develop cooperation with higher education institutions across Europe and other regions, with a particular focus on student and academic staff mobility, joint research, international projects, and strategic academic partnerships.
