OMU stands out in international patent applications and additive manufacturing technologies

The “PCT Champion Universities – Top 20” list for 2025 has been announced under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), which is regarded as an important indicator in international patent applications. According to the announced data, Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) achieved significant success by ranking among Türkiye’s leading universities with 18 applications.

In addition to its success in the overall ranking, OMU also demonstrated a noteworthy performance in strategically important technology fields. Ondokuz Mayıs University, which was included in the “Patent Champion Universities – Top 10” list announced in the field of additive manufacturing technologies, ranked 8th among the top 10 universities in Türkiye.

Strong performance in research and innovation

These achievements are considered an important indicator of OMU’s determined efforts in research, innovation, and intellectual property. Within the scope of activities carried out under the coordination of the Ondokuz Mayıs University Technology Transfer Office (OMU-TTO), academics’ active participation in patent processes is supported, while efforts toward the protection and commercialization of innovative ideas continue in a sustainable manner.

OMU’s rising performance in national and international patent applications also contributes to the university’s technology-oriented production capacity and value-added research approach. It is considered that achievements in strategic areas such as additive manufacturing strengthen the university’s research university vision.
