OMU hosts 30th National Theatre Festival with free performances for all
The 30th National Theatre Festival, organized by the Theatre Community of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) as part of its 38th artistic year, has been bringing together theatre groups from different universities in Samsun since 27 April. Held at the OMU Stage on the Faculty of Fine Arts Campus, the festival will continue until 5 May, with all performances open to the public free of charge.
A different play every day at 14:00 and 19:00, a rich repertoire
The festival features one play each day at 14:00 and 19:00, offering a wide repertoire that appeals to both adults and children. The program spans from classical texts to contemporary works, providing young theatre practitioners with the opportunity to share their stage experience with audiences.
A meeting stage for university theatre groups
The event hosts theatre groups from Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Ankara Music and Fine Arts University, Atılım University, Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University, Ankara University, Istanbul University, Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and Atatürk University.
A diverse selection from classical texts to contemporary works
The festival program includes notable productions such as “Sarı Düşler Defteri” (The Yellow Dreams Notebook), “Temsil İptal Edilmedi” (The Performance Was Not Cancelled), “Bozuk Paralar Opereti” (The Loose Change Operetta), “Aşk ile Ölüm Arasında” (Between Love and Death), “Midas’ın Kulakları” (Midas’ Ears), “Yeni Kiracı” (The New Tenant), “Bir Fakir Orhan Veli” (A Poor Orhan Veli), “Mutluluğa Giden Son Tren” (The Last Train to Happiness), “Albayın Karısı” (The Colonel’s Wife), “Kuş” (The Bird), “Ölesiye” (To Death), “Fareler ve İnsanlar” (Of Mice and Men), “Son Gece Mahallesi” (The Last Night Neighborhood), “Bir Yerlerde Sıkıyönetim” (Martial Law Somewhere), “Bir Yaz Gecesi Rüyası” (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), “İhtimallerin Farkı” (The Difference of Possibilities) and “Cesaret Ana ve Çocukları” (Mother Courage and Her Children).
Bringing university theatre groups together on the same stage, the festival continues to stand out as one of the season’s prominent cultural events for audiences in Samsun.
