OMU hosts advisory board meeting to strengthen university–industry collaboration
A widely attended University Advisory Board Meeting was held under the chair of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın.
The meeting, organized to strengthen university–city–industry cooperation and to evaluate OMU’s strategic goals, brought together representatives from public institutions, local administrations, the business community, and academia.
The meeting, held in the Senate Hall, was attended by OMU administrators, representatives of public institutions, representatives of industry and trade organizations, and academics.
The first agenda item of the meeting focused on activities carried out in cooperation between OMU and industry. Current efforts were reviewed within the framework of the university’s R&D capacity, technology transfer processes, sector-oriented projects, and its mission to train a qualified workforce. Expectations and suggestions from representatives of the business community were also received.
One of the key agenda items of the University Advisory Board Meeting was the hospital project. A comprehensive briefing was delivered on the New Faculty of Medicine Hospital Project, which has been included in the 2026 Investment Program. Public and private sector representatives also shared their views, expectations, and suggestions regarding the project, which generated considerable excitement. The potential contributions of the project to the region’s healthcare infrastructure, health tourism, and the university’s academic capacity were discussed in detail.
The meeting also addressed preparations for the Central Black Sea Career Fair (OKAF 2026), which will be held in Samsun under the coordination of the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and hosted by OMU. Within the framework of İŞKUR–OKAF cooperation, planning was shared regarding increasing the employability of young people, strengthening university–industry engagement, and effectively utilizing the region’s human capital potential.
Another agenda item was health tourism. Strategies aimed at enhancing OMU’s regional and international health tourism potential were evaluated in line with the university’s healthcare infrastructure, qualified academic staff, and the planned new hospital investment.
The meeting concluded following the exchange of views and suggestions.
