Twenty-eight students who completed the 2025–2026 academic year at the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Daycare and Preschool were celebrated at a graduation ceremony as they prepared to begin primary school.

The event, held at the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center (AKM), was attended by OMU Secretary General Prof. Dr. Erhan Burak Pancar, Head of the Health, Culture and Sports Department Selman Aslan, Daycare and Preschool Director Ayşegül Sözen, teachers, and students’ families.

The ceremony featured songs and dance performances prepared by the children, while a year-end exhibition showcasing their work throughout the academic year was also presented to visitors.

Director Sözen: “Our children are the most precious trust of our future”

In her opening remarks, Daycare and Preschool Director Ayşegül Sözen highlighted the importance of this milestone in the children’s educational journey.

“As our Chief Teacher Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk emphasized, children are the cornerstone of a nation’s progress. They are the guarantee of our future, the source of our joy, and the most precious trust of tomorrow. Throughout this academic year, our students have remained eager to learn and explore, making significant progress in their cognitive, emotional, social, and psychomotor development. They have also learned to share, collaborate, and take responsibility. The works displayed today are wonderful reflections of their imagination, creativity, and growth.”

Secretary General Pancar: “Cherish these precious moments”

Speaking at the ceremony, OMU Secretary General Prof. Dr. Erhan Burak Pancar addressed families and reflected on how quickly childhood passes.

“The happiness we share today is very special for both our children and their families. These beautiful years pass remarkably fast. One day, when you look back, you will realize even more how valuable the photographs taken today and the memories created are. Of course, there will be many years ahead filled with responsibilities and hard work, but children should also have the opportunity to enjoy their childhood, play freely, and spend quality time with their families. Enjoy this special day and cherish every moment you spend with your children.”

Following the speeches, the students delighted the audience with their performances. Visitors also had the opportunity to view the year-end exhibition featuring projects and creative works produced throughout the school year.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of graduation certificates, celebrations shared by students and their families, and commemorative photographs marking the occasion.
