Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has taken its place at TEKNOFEST 2025, held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), showcasing its projects and vision to international visitors at Stand L1.

By participating in this year’s TEKNOFEST in the TRNC, OMU presents its work in science and technology on an international platform. The university’s multidisciplinary team “ChainGene,” competing under the name ZOMİ, has reached the finals in the Agriculture category, standing out among 2,864 entries.

Comprising students from the faculties of Medicine, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Statistics, and Industrial Engineering, the team recently received a patent registration for their project and now holds a strong position in the competition. Furthermore, they are one of only three teams invited by TÜRKPATENT to present at the Expomed fair.

OMU’s stand, numbered L1 in the event area, hosts visitors with original student projects and academic research. Staff at the stand include Deputy Secretary-General Serap Sivrioğlu Sezer, Corporate Communications Coordinator Lecturer Mürsel Kan, and Lecturer Dr. Elif Şevik İnal. Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurmaz are scheduled to visit the festival area on the event's second day.

TEKNOFEST KKTC is held under the auspices of the TRNC Presidency and is organized by the Türkiye Technology Team Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, with the participation of 132 stakeholder institutions. The festival brings together more than 47,000 competitors from 22 countries, competing in six different technology contests.

Held in Nicosia from May 1 to 4, the festival features 268 finalist teams competing across a 100,000-square-meter venue. A total of 3 million TL in financial support and 2.5 million TL in prizes are available to participants.

The event program includes air shows with domestic aircraft, science demonstrations, planetarium screenings, interactive and simulation areas, children’s workshops, panel talks, and cultural activities. A Peace Operation Experience Zone and an AI-powered souvenir photo booth also attract significant attention from visitors.

TEKNOFEST KKTC is open to the public daily from 09:00 to 19:00, and participation is free. Visitors must register online to attend the festival.
