Dr. Ünver Highlights Regional Nursing Cooperation at WHO and ICN Meetings
Dr. Gamze Tunçer Ünver of the Division of Nursing Management within the Department of Nursing at Ondokuz Mayıs University’s (OMU) Faculty of Health Sciences participated in two high-level meetings held in Geneva under the auspices of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Council of Nurses (ICN).
Invited by the Georgian Nurses Association, Dr. Tunçer Ünver delivered presentations focusing particularly on the Caucasus region. Her presentations addressed international cooperation in nursing, the strengthening of leadership capacity, and the development of sustainable partnerships.
The discussions explored the role of nursing leadership in transforming healthcare systems, the contribution of cross-border cooperation to capacity-building efforts, and the importance of supporting long-term health policies at the regional level.
The meetings were attended by WHO Chief Nursing Officer Dr. Amelia Latu Afuhaamango Tuipulotu, ICN Chief Executive Officer Howard Catton, Georgian Nurses Association Director Ia Gelenidze, and senior representatives of the participating organisations.
The meetings were regarded as an important step towards strengthening nursing leadership and expanding international cooperation networks across the Caucasus region.
