8 OMU Academic Staff Members Listed Among the World’s Most Influential Scientists

The latest list of the world’s most influential scientists compiled by a team of scientists from Stanford University every year has recently been published by Elsevier, a Netherland-based publishing company specializing in scientific, technical and medical content.

According to the research conducted by the scientists from the Stanford University, the “World’s Most Influential Scientists” list included 1.150 scientists from Turkey and 8 academic staff members from Ondokuz Mayıs University.

Scientists are classified according to their fields of study and two lists are created as “Career-Long Impact” and “Annual Impact”  In the creation of the list, as for performance indicators some international criteria such as the number of qualified publications, the effect of the journal in which the publications are located, the number of patents, the number of citations, the h-index, the hm-index, the number of articles, the number of cited articles and the effect of the journal are used.

In the 2020 list the publications listed according to these criteria, a total of 190.063 scientists have been evaluated within the "annual impact" category. The list included 1.150 scientists from Turkey and 8 academic staff members from Ondokuz Mayıs University.

Within the category of "career-long impact", in which the most influential scientists in the world are ranked according to the citation effect of the last five years of publications, and career analysis is made, 3 scientists from OMU have been listed  among a total of 186,177 people evaluated.

OMU academic members Prof. Dr. Feryal Akbal, Prof. Dr. Birol Elevli, Prof. Dr. Turgay Partal, Prof. Dr. Sezgin Güneş, Prof. Dr. Derya Oktay, Prof. Dr. Erdem Koç, Assoc. Prof. Cengiz Kaya, Assoc. Prof. Selim Ceylan have been listed among the most influential scientists.
