2nd International Plant Biology Congress Starts at OMU

“2nd International Plant Biology Congress” organized by Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) and Flora Research Association has started. 100 registered guests are participating in the congress held at OMU Atatürk Congress and Culture Centre. The opening speeches are given by Dr. Fergan Karaer and Prof. Dr. Zeki Aytaç.

The conference then continued with the following presentations: Prof. Dr. Musa Doğan from Middle East Technical University (METU) - Understanding and Conservation of Medical Plants: A Case Study of Salvia L. (Lamiaceae)”; Prof. Dr. Şinasi Yıldırımlı from Hacettepe University - “Plant Sample Collector Researchers in Turkey, How can a Revision be Made, How can New Species be Identified.”

Academics from Austria, Iraq, Libya, Malesia, Switzerland, Turkey, United States, and Yemen are going to make a contribution to the congress with their works and presentations.  The congress continues until June 23. Various themes such as plant diversity in the world and in Turkey, impacts of global climate change on plants, bio-smuggling, and new plant species are going to be studied.

Field trips to Kızılırmak Delta, Ladik, and Amasya are going to be organized at the last day of the congress.
