OMU Has Subsidized R&D Projects with 17 Million TL in 2017

The total of the funding resources Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has found in 2017 to support R&D projects have reached 17.063.846 Turkish Liras. 323 scientific research projects conducted by OMU faculty members in 2017 have benefited from these funding resources.

295 of the total 323 scientific research projects which received funding in 2017 were financed with the budgets brought in from the revenues of OMU’s own equity. The total budget of these projects amounted to 10.531.388 TL.

External resources reached 7 million

In the meantime, the R&D support obtained from external sources has reached 6.532.458 TL. While a significant part of this budget was obtained from the projects supported by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), the funding obtained from DOKAP (Eastern Black Sea Regional Development Project), TAGEM (General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policy), and European Union (EU) also constituted an important part of the total funding.

The support of the private sector is promising

Private sector has provided 1.007.300 TL in funding for the OMU research projects.

Our aim is to receive more from EU funds

The objectives for the number of projects and the project budgets of the R&D project partnerships of the University-industry are gradually increasing. Significant measures and incentives are provided in order to ensure progress in this field in the coming years. In addition, it is aimed to receive more funding for the R&D projects from the EU funds.

Rector Bilgiç “TÜBİTAK’s TTO (Technology Transfer Office) support is very important”

Drawing attention to the importance of the received funding, Rector Prof. Dr. Sait Bilgiç said the following; “OMU, in its efforts to improve the university-industry collaboration, has taken another step towards its objectives with the 1.750.000 TL support it has received from TUBİTAK for the TTO. The TÜBİTAK support indicates that there will be further progress in this field in 2018.”

DOKAP support for the university-industry collaboration

“DOKAP support for the establishment of pre-incubation centre aimed at developing entrepreneurship and innovativeness of the DOKAP cities also contributes to the momentum in this field. Additionally, the support in question adds dynamism to the regional development whereas OMU will also add significant contributions to the development of the region through its accepted projects and the projects which are pending approval from the ministry.” said Rector Bilgiç.
