The Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has started the 2025–2026 academic year with a significant achievement, having been granted full accreditation for five years by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Nursing Education Programs (HEPDAK).
In his remarks, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz congratulated the Nursing Department, emphasizing that the accreditation holds great value not only for the department itself but also for OMU’s broader quality and accreditation goals.
“Our aim is to ensure that all departments at our university achieve accreditation,” said Prof. Dr. Kurnaz. “In line with this vision, we are working to elevate our university to higher positions in global rankings.”
Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Esra Pancar Yüksel, noted that the Nursing Department is among the first in the faculty to receive accreditation. She extended her thanks to the faculty members who worked diligently throughout the reaccreditation process.
“This success is not only a significant milestone for our department, but also an important gain for the academic vision of our faculty,” she said. “We will always support your efforts.”
In her opening speech, Head of the Nursing Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Tural Büyük, expressed her pride in successfully completing the 5-year accreditation process. She congratulated the new students for joining the OMU family.
“Accreditation shows that our program provides a reliable and continuously improving education in line with both national and international standards,” she said.
“You are not only our students but also our future colleagues. With our strong academic staff and modern curriculum, we will be by your side every step of the way.”
Prof. Dr. Özen Kulakaç, member of the HEPDAK Board and a faculty member in OMU’s Nursing Department, underlined that accreditation brings significant national and international advantages for students and graduates.
“This process strengthens the value and credibility of the nursing profession,” she stated. “Achieving quality is as difficult as maintaining it; doing so requires the continuous support of top university leadership.”
During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Özen Kulakaç presented the official accreditation certificate to Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz. Following this, Prof. Dr. Kurnaz distributed certificates of appreciation to the faculty members who contributed to the accreditation process.
